The ATSC (Advanced Television Systems Committee) has been charged with the development of North America's High Definition Broadcasting System. This site contains a wealth of information on the new digital HDTV-ATV broadcasting system that has been approved by the FCC (Federal Communications System). This site is an excellent starting point for further research.

Microsoft's Official HDTV Policy Statement and Market Plans
PBS has begun sending out HDTV test pattern signals from their satellite system. As of 1/24/97, the satellite was down temporarily, but they do anticipate a full time signal going out sometime this year. There is a schedule of HD signal broadcast on their web site.
WHD-TV is the model HDTV station established by the broadcast and comsumer electronics industry.
WRAL was the first TV station to apply for an HD license.

NHK HI-VISION (English) This is the HTDV page of Japan's national public broadcaster. NHK conducted the original psycho-visual research that led to the development of High Definition. The NHK Laboratories developed both the Hi-Vision production system and the M.U.S.E. broadcasting system, the standards by which other High Definition systems are judged. NHK has produced many of the finest programs imaged in HDTV in North America, such as Woodstock '94, the broadway musical Victor Victoria, Superbowl-XXX, and many other sports, entertainment, and documentary programs.
The Hi-Vision Promotion Association (English) is an information resource funded by a consortium of Japanese government and industry organizations to promote the diffusion of Hi-Vision. Great statistics on Japanese HDTV receiver penetration, as well as current programs are available on the Hi-Vision satellite.
These MSTV ATV Channel Allocation Tables are a sub-page of Doug Lung's R.F. page. Here you will find the proposed channel assignements for all of the existing U.S. television stations that will allow them to broadcast HDTV and ATV.

HD VISION Dallas' high definition production, post-production and equipment rental company. Their thorough web site provides a list of their credits (with pictures) as well as articles on the state of HD in this country.
Vision Unlimited, the HDTV production division of Skyland Pla-Net, has been coordinating major Japanese HDTV projects in North America for many years. HD VISION Unlimited is a JV of Vision Unlimited and HD VISION, Inc. to promote our production and facility capabilities to producers in Japan.
Rebo Studios was the first HD produciton facility in this country and have produced quite a number of productions in HD. They also have out a good book on working with HD.
KCTS TV-9 is the first US broadcaster to puchase a High Definition camera and VTR for production, rather than research, use. KCTS has produced serveral programs that have been broadcast in Hi-Vision in Japan, as well as in NTSC in North America and is truly a pioneer in the application of HDTV to television programming.
John Weiley, Australia's leading producer of high definition motion pictures, has produced, written and directed films in all giant-screen formats, including IMAX, 3D and Showscan.
